Italy Full Member of CLARIN ERIC

On 1st October 2015 Italy became the 16th Full Member of CLARIN ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium), the governance and coordination body of CLARIN (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) at the European level.

The Founding Member of the Italian CLARIN Consortium is the Institute for Computational Linguistics “Antonio Zampolli” of the National Research Council of Italy, which was already an active participant in the CLARIN preparatory phase project (2008-2011) and is the CLARIN-IT Executing Institution.

Dr Monica Monachini, Senior Researcher at the aforesaid Institute, is the CLARIN-IT National Coordinator.

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage of the National Research Council of Italy is the CLARIN-IT Body of Representation.

The Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research is the CLARIN-IT Funding Body.

The Italian CLARIN Consortium aims at including the major universities and research institutes of the country, such as departments and institutions of language and literary studies, Philology and Computer Science, as well as groups mostly involved in the field of Digital Humanities and in the sectors of documentation, digitalization and language technologies for the Humanities.
